4 Self-Care Practices for Your Wellbeing

By Lyndsay S @lyndsinreallife

You are a busy person. There is always one more thing to do, a person to help, or a meal to make. Of course, you probably signed up for this life you are in, but you can still feel squeezed at both ends. If you need a break, look no further. Here are some self-care practices you can incorporate into your active schedule right away. Taking care of yourself is important, and it begins now.

Treat Yourself to a Spa Day

One of the nicest things you can do for yourself is pay someone else to pamper you. Think about that for a moment – another person is going to take care of you and help you relax. Schedule a day at the spa or book a favorite treatment. Select something you have not tried before from Spencer’s spa packages or a session you know will leave you feeling relaxed.

Check an Item Off Your To-Do List

Accomplishing a task might seem strange on a list of self-care items; however, if you have a list that seems absolutely insurmountable and causes you to sweat, take a deep breath and select one small thing you can reasonably do today. It might not be fun, but you will feel better after you have finished, and your looming list will be one item smaller. Put in your earbuds, turn on a great playlist, and begin.

Call a Friend

Give your friend a call. They will probably be surprised to receive a phone call because you usually connect via text, text first to ask if they are available for a chat to catch up. Hearing a loved one’s voice is comforting. Sit back and cuddle with your furry friend during the call, go for a walk, or cook dinner. Focus on reconnecting and how you feel both during and after the call. Make a plan to get together in person, if you are able, or call more frequently.

If you are unsure of whom to call, watch this short, yet sweet video. When you are finished, call someone who has touched your life. They will be glad you did. So will you.

Explore Nature

Green spaces and nature in general are good for your mind, body, and soul. Communing in the natural world allows you to breathe in fresh air, feel the sunshine on your skin (always wear SPF), and observe the natural elements you cannot see when you live your life indoors. Walk through a nearby park, hit the trails for a run, or sit in your backyard and birdwatch. Being outside gives you a different perspective, especially if you put your phone in your pocket and focus on the views around you.

Practicing the art of self-care is not always easy. Give yourself the gift of prioritizing your needs by embracing the relaxation that comes from a visit to the spa. When you are done, call someone special. You deserve to do things that make you feel good every day.
