4 Possible Side Effects of Folexin Supplement

Posted on the 31 January 2022 by James Kerry Arap @JKerry_Health

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), most health supplements contain ingredients that can have "strong effects in the body." As such, the institute recommends that you should always be vigilant and watch out for any bad reaction when using new products.

Talking about bad reaction, we would like to shed more light on the potential side effects of Folexin, in detail.

Folexin is a hair growth supplement popularly marketed as a game-changer for people seeking to increase hair volume. It's a 100% natural product, and while it's generally regarded as safe for adults, there's always a small chance for even the best-made supplement to cause some undesired effects.

Let's look at some of those:

These Are Some Potential Side Effects for Folexin Users

They range from complaints of stomach upset, irritated GI tract, and dizziness. Here's a look at the potential side effects of the Folexin natural hair growth product from VitaBalance Inc.

  1. Stomach upset
  2. Irritated GI Tract
  3. Liver damage concerns
  4. Dizziness and light-headedness

Stomach Upset

A small minority of users claim that they experienced stomach cramps upon taking Folexin. Such reports may be due to the size of the pills. Each Folexin pill is roughly the size of a dime i.e. 0.7 inches in length. Stomach cramps are commonly reported even among creatine users owing to the size of the pills (creatine pills typically measure 0.9 inches and are slightly larger than Folexin pills, though).

The high levels of B-vitamins in this product might also be to blame.

Normally, the way to handle this is by taking the capsules with a meal and lots of water. Also, consider splitting the dose by taking 1 capsule early in the day and the other one in the evening to avoid this side effect of Folexin consumption.

Irritated GI Tract

This point is closely related to the one above but there's slightly a lot more to it. These pills contain relatively high levels of iron. That said, 45mg per day is the upper tolerable limit of iron - and Folexin contains 14.5mg of iron.

Granted, some people, particularly those with ultra-sensitive GI tracts tend to find anything above 12mg a bit too high.

The USDA recommends 18mg for adults aged between 18 and 50. On the other hand, the Authority recommends 8mg per day for folks aged above 50.

Consult with your physician if you're above 50 and have a history of a sensitive GI tract before taking Folexin to avoid related side effects.

Liver Damage Concerns

Inside every daily dosage of Folexin are 25mg of Fo-Ti. Now, that's way below the upper tolerable limit, however, it is worth noting that taking more than 250mg of Fo-Ti per day can lead to liver damage.

To get such large quantities of Fo-Ti from Folexin you'd need to take 20 pills of it per day.

So, liver damage is not really a side effect of Folexin if you stick to the recommended dosage as the quantities in it are way below the suggested upper tolerable limit.

According to Mayo Clinic some of the early signs of liver problems worth watching out for include (but not limited to):

  • Dark urine
  • Abdominal swelling and pain
  • Yellowish eyes and skin
  • Itchy skin
  • Bad breath

Talk to your doctor if you are concerned about your liver health before introducing any new supplement to your routine.

Dizziness & Light-headedness

Dizziness and light-headedness are symptoms that contain Saw Palmetto. Once again, the quantities of Palmetto included in Folexin are significantly low and non-life threatening.

However, should one exceed the recommended dosage, such issues may be encountered. According to Very Well Health, Saw Palmetto is generally well tolerated but may cause symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, constipation etc when overused.

Conclusion

Having done extensive research on this hair growth supplement, it is possible to conclude that it is largely safe. A vast majority of those who use it seem to like it. You may read our detailed review of this product here.
