3rd Party Brands on Sale at Club Monaco

Any time a sales code applies to third party brands, it feels like someone left the back door open. At the moment, Club Monaco is having one of those tiered discount promotions – get 20% off orders over $150; 25% off orders over $250; and 30% off orders over $400 when you use the checkout code SHOPSPRING.

The deal is nice, but it’s made nicer by the fact that the promotion applies to everything in their store (almost, anyway). That includes sales merchandise and third party items – including those from the likes of Barbour, Tricker’s, and Inis Meain. Some notables I found last night while browsing the site:

Barbour: It’s been harder and harder to find discounted Barbour now that the company has disallowed European shops to export to the US. At the moment, however, you can get discounted Bedale, Ashby, and Liddesdale jackets (along with some more unique models) at Club Monaco. See my Barbour buying guide at Put This On if you need info about how these jackets differ.

Other outerwear: Club Monaco also has some nice Woolrich parkas, Crombie raincoats, and Golden Bear leather jackets. If you’re up for a splurge, I absolutely love Ten C. They’re a technical outerwear brand using old, heritage designs (think: Stone Island meets Nigel Cabourn). East Dane also has some of their jackets on deep discount, but in limited sizes.

Tops: There are some Inis Meain sweaters in the sale section, which are made more affordable when you use the checkout code. I also really like Club Monaco’s own line of knitwear. It’s a little more expensive nowadays than it was five years ago, but the quality is still really nice for the price. See their basic merino crewnecks, speckled wool Donegals, and camel hair cable knits.

For shirts, I like these Gitman Vintage button-downs and this Jean Shop chambray. Both would be great for casual use.

Shoes: Tons and tons of shoes – from minimalist sneakers to rugged boots to dress shoes. Find brands here such as wings + horns, Red Wing, Wolverine, Allen Edmonds, and Tricker’s. The good news: Allen Edmonds’ shell cordovan shoes are included in the promotion. The bad news: Viberg is excluded (no discounted service boots for you).

Jeans: If you like raw jeans, but find contemporary models too slim, Levi’s Vintage Clothing’s 1947 501s are a good place to start. They’re a slim-straight cut with a little more room throughout the leg. For a similar style, but tapered, try the 1954.

Other notables: A few more things here and there. Porter bags pair well with casualwear, Onia swim trunks are nicely cut, Anonymous Ism’s slub crew socks go well with sneakers and boots, and Lock & Co’s hats are pretty great. I particularly like Lock & Co’s Rambler, which is a wool felt trilby you can roll up and stuff into the hip pocket of your Barbour. For summer, they have panamas.
