Happiness

In times of turmoil and negativity, it can be difficult to find moments of joy. It is during those times that you need to focus on the positive and remain happy. There are some simple ways you can increase your own happiness. Happiness is something that you continuously have to work toward, but the reward is worth it.

Be Kind

A simple way to be happier is to be kind to others. If you can spread kindness, studies have shown that not only will the people receiving your kindness feel good, you will feel good too. Being kind to others through your words and actions is easy, free, and simple. It can also create lasting memories for the person you were kind to. Saying please and thank you, holding the door open for others, and complimenting someone’s outfit are all easy ways to be kind to others.

Get Outside

Being outside is a great way to improve your overall mood. Spending as little as 20 minutes in a park can help improve your mood and make you happier. The warmth of the sun and the oxygen given off by trees can help you feel refreshed and renewed. Also, exercising outside can help decrease stress and increase mental stimulation, but it is not necessary to increase your overall happiness. Studies have shown that just being outside, with nature, helps improve people’s moods.

Write Something

It may seem silly, but if you are unhappy and dwelling on things in your head, it can help to write things down. It does not have to be anything specific or anything that makes sense. However, just getting something out of your head and onto paper can help decrease the clutter in your brain. That will make you feel less stressed and thus happier.

Being happy is something everyone strives for. Happiness can be elusive sometimes so it is important to keep working towards it and stay positive.
