Following the visit of Carol H. and her family to Austria in early April, she provided feedback that has been invaluable. Let’s now look at Carol’s concluding comments.
Here’s what Carol had to say:
Most things were closed such as the fish swimming, but we went to Piber and had a lovely day! we also spent a few days in Turrecher hohe? skiing we too enjoyed this very much, we did the Nocky flitzer! Great fun (expensive though)
We spent the day in Murra and did the letter spotting around the town but realised when we finished the children couldn’t claim the prize from the tourist info as it was closed! never mind had a fab walk.
We went swimming in a therma…WOW amazing day there!
The chalet was really well laid out and well maintained we did not feel cramped at all, it was lovely and warm.
To be honest we spent a fortune I did not really budget for how expensive it was ….
We spent a lot of time before tea at the park the children enjoyed playing there, I bet the summer around that swimming lake is brilliant, shame we didn’t experience that.
My daughter also got tonsilitus and I did not have my e11 so had to take her to the doctor as her throat was completely infected and she was very low…£60 for some antibiotics! My fault as was not prepared, she is 12 and has never missed a day of school typical she is poorly on holiday.
The local village is lovely and the whole place has such amazing scenary.
What I like about Carol is that she’s 100% fair. She’s pointed out the problems, but has also painted a picture of the positives.
Things to Think About From Carol’s Comments
There are 3 things you should think about from Carol’s comments. These are:
- Check what’s open and what’s not during your chosen holiday period – when Carol went on holiday it was Easter and the winter ski season was still underway. As the focus is on snow sports for many holiday-makers at that time of year, other tourist attractions do not tend to be open. The summer season doesn’t really get going full swing until June or thereabouts, though some attractions open earlier.
- Consider costs – being away from home is always more expensive than you think and costs can soon creep up. Check out costs where possible on the internet before you go on holiday so you don’t get any nasty surprises!
- Keep your European Health Insurance Card* (E111) close to hand - as Carol noted, sickness is almost guaranteed to strike when you least expect it. Keep your E111 readily available for those emergency moments. Treatment abroad can be very expensive.
Here’s hoping that when you choose a holiday in Austria (maybe in this traditional style holiday chalet), you won’t need to worry about E111 or anything else that might mar your enjoyment.
And we sincerely hope Carol and her family get to enjoy the swimming lake in the summertime!
