3 Major Reasons You Don’t Like Being in Your Kitchen

By Marialiberati

Do you dislike spending time in your kitchen? Ideally, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and it’s where people gather to talk about the day, share stories, do homework, cook meals, and eat. But, rather than acting as a center stage for your home life, is your kitchen the one room that you cannot stand in your house? There are a few major reasons for this.

You Need to Clean

The first rule is to try your level best to make your kitchen clean and neat. Making an extra effort to keep your countertops clean and clear of clutter can be especially helpful. Always resist the urge to make the countertop a drop-off place for dirty dishes, mail, keys, and magazines. First, you should relocate the small appliances from the countertop. Always ensure that the countertop is functional and essential to your cooking. You can also keep things in cabinets or become a minimalist. The kitchen will look neater when you keep your belongings behind closed cabinet doors rather than storing them in the open.

You can also use the one in, one out rule to help you keep away the clutter. This rule insists that for everything new that you introduce into your kitchen space, one old thing should be taken out. This rule is vital in maintaining a healthy balance. It is also essential to do a chore a day and avoid waiting for all of it at once. To make your kitchen desirable, you have to value tidiness and prioritize cleaning. This should not mean that you should be knee-deep in cleaning every week; just a little cleaning every day will maintain the kitchen.

It Needs a Face Lift

Maybe the look of the kitchen might be the problem; then, you would need to remodel it to your liking. It doesn’t have to be too big of a deal, you can make quick changes that can change the vibe of your kitchen. So after you’ve decided to give your kitchen a facelift, then what?

You can begin by collecting kitchen photos to get inspiration. You might find what you need is more room or just an upgrade to the current kitchen. Think about what you need. You can get ideas from any resource available to determine the kitchen layout that fits your household lifestyle. Also, think about your priorities and the movement within the kitchen. Secondly, find a professional to assist in the remodeling of the kitchen. The professional will help in building or redesigning the kitchen cabinets, plumbing, and electrical wiring. Present the plan to the professional and discuss your needs so that when they are completing the design, they’ll have your needs at heart.

Store Food Properly

You should store your non-perishable items in your cupboards. These are the items that do not spoil quickly. Food in dry storage should be stored in airtight containers to prevent insect infestation. Also, store dry foods in a dark place that is moderately cool. For other food items, such as flour, store them in airtight containers in the cupboard. Sugar should be stored at room temperature and in a dry place in well-sealed plastic bags or a jar with a lid. Bread should be kept fresh and stored in a cool, dry place. Vegetables should be stored in your fridge.

With a little effort, you and your family can enjoy spending time in the kitchen. In order to keep it nice, your kitchen will require constant cleaning and upkeep to remain looking nice. It’s a lot of work, but the result is very much worth it. If you use the above tricks for decluttering and organizing your kitchen, your kitchen can become a place where you enjoy being more often.
