GMC strives to deliver the best towing pickup truck on the market that has already been launched countless cameras and sensors to make hard jobs easier for his customers. Now the full-size 2021 GMC Sierra Pickup is getting additional trailer technology for even more comfort and safety for both light and heavy model fairings. Plus, the deck will be stacked with a new 2021 GMC Sierra HD Denali Black Diamond Edition fairing that adds even more bling than usual.
The new Jack Knife alarm from GMC can warn with a visual alarm and a quick vibration of the driver's seat floor if there is a risk of the trailer getting out of line. Jackknifing occurs when the trailer is out of sync with the trajectory of the towing vehicle and the trailer begins to move and form an L or V shape. This usually happens because the trailer tires have lost traction, but trailers can pull a knife when reversing. By using cameras and sensors, the Sierra can detect a potential jackknife situation and warn the driver of impending problems. However, the technician cannot correct such developing situations himself. Depending on the severity, drivers may be able to restore the trailer by accelerating or steering into the skid.

Another new feature is the Trailer Length Indicator, a system that functions as an extended blind spot monitor. When a driver activates the turn signal of a properly equipped 2021 Sierra, a red overlay appears on the camera retraction of the infotainment screen, which visually extends over twice the length of the trailer. In this way, drivers can see if a vehicle is in (or approaching) its "red zone", which enables safer lane changes.
Other improved trailer technologies help drivers secure their vehicles more easily, with new guidelines on the main infotainment display. The function for the rear side view, which previously only worked on models for 2020, will in future also work in reverse for Sierras 2021. To make coupling easier, there is a new function for displaying the trailer angle as well as a function for improving the loading area view and instructions for the trailer coupling for gooseneck or semi-trailers.
With the lightweight Sierra 1500, all of this technology is part of an optional technology package. On heavy-duty models, technology is standard with the luxury Denali trim, but SLT and AT4 drivers need to equip their trucks with HD Surround Vision with dual trailer cameras and the Bed View camera system to get all of the new extras.
As with other updates, GMC Sierra 1500 drivers can now get super cool MultiPro tailgate on SLE and elevation trims. The AT 4 will have 20-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires and a step with high ground clearance for easy entry and exit.
Additionally, the 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine is getting a significant price cut of $ 1,500. For 2021, the diesel on SLT, AT4 and Denali trims costs just $ 995 more than the 5.3-liter V8 offering. For SLE and Elevation, the price cut lowers the price premium to $ 2,390.

As for the Sierra Heavy Duty, the MultiPro tailgate will be standard on the SLE fairing, and the AT4 will have 18-inch mud tires and a high ground clearance step. The Denali cladding receives a 360-degree camera as well as a standard for a bed camera.
Those who opt for the new chic Black Diamond Edition shown above will get 20-inch high-gloss black wheels and retractable side steps on their already less subtle Denali.
No word yet on full model pricing or availability, but we expect that 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and high-performance models in dealerships this fall. With all of these cameras and chrome, they'll be hard to miss.
