Believe it or not, the German automaker's marketing strategy appears to be inspired by Tesla. Recently, Audi made big announcements for the 2021 model of its e-tron electric SUV. According to sources, the 2021 Audi e-tron will get a price cut of $ 9,000 and an 18-mile increase in electric range.

After this update, pricing for the 2021 Audi e-tron will start at $ 65,900 before federal taxes and EV incentives. After federal taxes of up to $ 7,500, the overall cost will be further reduced to $ 58,400, which is very close to the performance variant of Tesla Model Y.

In contrast, the electric SUV will improve in terms of mileage. The Audi e-tron will have a total range of 222 miles (EPA).

Audi did not compromise with the performance of the e-tron 2021

Although the automaker has lowered the price of its best electric SUV, it hasn't compromised on the performance of the e-tron. Just like current models, the e-tron 2021 will have the same power and acceleration.

For reference, the electric SUV is equipped with a lithium-ion battery of 95 kWh. Additionally, the e-tron has a maximum power output of 402 BHP, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds in boost mode. In normal mode, the SUV has a maximum power of 355 BHP. The car will have the same 4,000 lb towing capacity.

Since the start of 2020, Tesla has continuously increased the range of its electric cars and improved it twice for the Model S. At the same time, Tesla has reduced the price of all its vehicles. Thus, its vehicles have a better value for money than any other electric vehicle on the market.

It's a unique marketing strategy and it has worked for Tesla as it has sold the most electric cars in the past few months. In addition, it has prompted other mainstream car makers like Audi to revise the prices of its e-tron electric SUV. Therefore, increase competition in the EV space.

Although Tesla is the world's largest maker of electric vehicles, it is still not as big as Audi or its sister company Porsche. Also, with this price range, the Audi e-tron can give Tesla a bit of competition.

Other changes in Audi e-tron

Apart from the price and the range of batteries, the manufacturer has not announced any additional updates. Audi also hasn't revealed what it did to achieve this increased range. Most likely, the engineers optimized the battery and updated the software. Maybe you can explain the same to us in the comments section below.
