2017 Award
Surprise Hit
January is here and that means award season and for the whole of January I will be looking at a range of best and worst subjects, before going into what I think are the true best nominations. For this round of awards I am looking at the films that made the biggest surprise impact on the Box Office in 2017, I might not have seen all these movies.
NOMINATIONS
Annabelle: Creation
Reason – This is a horror movie that came out in the middle of summer and still went to get over 100 million in the US Box Office.
Girl’s Trip
Reason – This comedy came from nowhere, no one had too much buzz about this film and now it could get one of its stars an Oscar nomination. It is loud and just broke into the top 10 summer box office in America
It
Reason – This is a movie a lot of people did want to see but to be just outside the top 10 worldwide box office shows how much of a surprise this was for the horror community seeing the success, which saw it dominate the month of September in 2017.
Winner
Wolf Warrior 2
Reason – This movie has broken all sorts of records in China, it has made $870.3 million worldwide with 867 in China alone.
