2015 Awards – Breakthrough Female

By Newguy

Through the month of January I will be looking back on 2015, I will be looking at a range of subjects where I will be picking my best or worst in separate posts.

Today I will be look at Breakthrough Female, for this award I have picked an actress who I had never seen in anything before that I believe gives great performance and will go onto bigger things.

Mentions that could have been number one;

·   Maika Monroe – It Follows, The Guest

maika
Maika is the most questionable choice for my list because the two big only made it to the UK this year. Both films gained critical acclaim which has led to a further 6 films due out next year including Independence Day: Resurgence.

·   Alex Essow – Starry Eyes

alex
In what is a very dark look at how far aspiring stars would go to become famous Alex gives us a brilliant performance which must surely be opening doors for the young actress.

·   Nadia Hadlikir – Spring

nadia
We have another horror star that gives us a brilliant performance in Spring which has led to a role in the final parts of the Divergent Series.

·   Oona Laurence – Southpaw

oona
Oona gives the brilliant performance in the boxing where she is the suffering during her father’s breakdown.

·   Raffey Cassidy – Tomorrowland

raffey
While the film itself isn’t the most popular young Raffey gives the best lines with the comic moments and all the best fight scenes in the film and most be a name to look out for in the future.

·   Olivia Dejonge – The Visit

Olivia is the eldest of the two children sent to their grandparent’s house but not everything is as it seems.

My favourite

·   Alicia Vikander – Ex Machina, The Man From U.N.C.L.E, The Danish Girl and Burnt

alicia
When it comes to breakthrough not a single person comes close to Alicia this year with two Golden Globe nomination and potential Oscar nods coming her way Alicia has firmly put her name on the radar for the biggest roles in Hollywood today.
