2014 Awards – Best Male Performance

Through the month of January I will be looking back on 2014, I will be looking at a range of subjects where I will be picking my best or worst in separate posts.

Today I will be look at Best Male Performance. Today I am looking at best male performance, and we all know that without a good lead actor you will end up with a bad film.

Mentions that could have been number one;

Tom Hardy – Locke 

In a film which is just about a man on the phone driving as his life falls down around him Hardy gives a brilliant performance keeping our attention from start to finish. My Review

Michael Fassbender – Frank 

While having a giant head on during the most part of this film, it is the personal issue that Frank has that Fassbender still manages to give us without any facial expressions. My Review

Eddie Redmayne –The Theory of Everything 

Eddie plays Stephen Hawking and we follow from his early stages of his illness until he makes a real impact on the world of physics.

Chris Pratt – Guardians of the Galaxy 

This Marvel film came from nowhere and stunned the cinema goers with its hugely likeable group of characters lead by the charismatic Pratt leading them all. My Review

Tom Cruise – Edge of Tomorrow 

Tom always gets mixed opinions because people judge him on his personal beliefs, but one thing that is always going to happen with him is a good lead performance and this was him having fun in a leading performance. My Review

Channing Tatum – Foxcatcher

Channing plays wrestler Mark Shutlz who is trying to compete in the 1988 Olympics but after entering into the Foxcatcher training camp where everything changes.

Steve Carell – Foxcatcher

Steve plays John du Pont the coach at the Foxcatcher ranch who wants to put together the best wrestling team for the 1988 Olympics. This was one performance i didn’t think Carell was capable of but he proved me and nearly everyone wrong.

My favourite

Andy Serkis – Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 

Being able to turn Caesar into such an emotional real character I have to pick Serkis the king of the motion capture. My Review
