Gabbar Singh
Gabbar Singh has by far been the album of the year. One wouldn’t be surprised to hear the songs all over for this New Year day. The songs are such a rage among the audience. Generally an album has a chart-buster or two but Gabbar Singh was a complete chart-buster album with all songs clicking in varying degrees making Devi Sree Prasad the music director of the year.

Yeto Vellipoindi Manasu/Dhoni
If you love music of Maestro Ilayaraja chances are that you would love the songs of Yeto Vellipoindi Manasu too. The album lacks on the ‘instant hit’ category but it makes up for it with the repeatability factor. If you are addicted to this album chances are high that you might not be able to appreciate any album better. And while you are at it, do give a listen to Dhoni as well from the Maestro, it is a stunner as well.

For music director Anup Rubens, year 2012 should be termed as a break through year. The young music director has been around for quite some time and giving some super successful singles too but in year 2012 he took a giant stride forward. He delivered two albums where music played a big role in their successes and can be termed as musical hits. His songs for the films Ishq and Lovely have been widely appreciated and loved by the audience.

Andala Rakshasi
Andala Rakshasi was not only debut of the director and cast of the film but also the debut of the music director Rathan. The film generated a lot of interest prior to its release for various reasons but post release it’s the songs that have managed to make the mark and stayed in the audience mind. Andala Rakshasi is one album which has grown tremendously post release of the film.

Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum
With Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum Mani Sharma once again showcased his musical prowess especially in terms of orchestration. The music director is clearly off his peak but now and then he is coming up with an album out of the blue that showcases his class and makes us wonder where all this talent has gone.
