Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh
Power Star Pawan Kalyan showed why he is called so after a long time. Gabbar Singh released in summer with not the biggest ever release and yet it went on to create opening records all over. It went to become the only film after Magadheera to breach the 50 Cr share mark in only AP and also on overall terms it become the only film to go past 60 Cr mark after Magadheera. In overseas too where the ‘mass’ movies don’t do well it’s the highest grossing out and out ‘mass’ film (2nd overall if both reported and non-reported rentrak numbers are taken or 3rd highest if only reported rentrak numbers taken), showcasing the ‘power’ of Power Star overseas.

Ram Charan’s Racha

Racha was a routine mass film made on the lines of Bunny. Its fast pace without any boredom coupled with few well picturized songs and heroism in regular doses made the film a huge success at the box office. It reaffirmed the box office strength of Mega Power Star Ram Charan after the debacle of Orange. For the fans the success was even sweeter as it had an unknown small time director directing the film.

SS Rajamouli’s Eega
Eega turned director SS Rajamouli into a superstar director if he wasn’t already. His fame crossed boundaries and his film became the talk of the town all over. Eega went on to become a super hit not just in Telugu but also in Tamil too something which has not happened in a very long time. In the overseas too the film was a sensation as it crossed the million dollar mark. Nani and Samantha became a hot pair overnight and Sudeep is expected to sweep all the awards for his villain act later in the year during the awards season.

Allu Arjun’s Julayi
After a spate of duds and non performers Stylish Star Allu Arjun bounced back with a super hit in the form of Julayi. The film was not only crucial to him but also to director Trivikram Srinivas as he had seen a big failure with his previous film. Also he was accused of overshooting and prolonging the schedules. The director silenced his detractors on both the counts by making the film in stipulated budget and completing the film on time. Julayi also proved once again the power of brand Trivikram overseas as it gave Allu Arjun, who has a poor record overseas, his highest grosser.

Mahesh Babu’s Businessman
Businessman released for Sankranthi continued the dream run of Superstar Mahesh Babu. It smashed the opening records for its time and sealed the doubts of naysayer’s regarding his openings once and for all. However, it did not sustain that well in AP and underperformed overseas relative to other films of Superstar.
