The OBIE Awards Gala was held in Miami last night. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. Best of Show went to Publicis New York for their work for Pepto Bismol which is well-deserved. Such a beautifully simple outdoor campaign.
A few mainstays at The Hangline were honored as well. Bernstein-Rein pulled in a silver for their McDonald’s “Honor Angus” campaign.
BVK also snagged a silver for their work for Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Adams Outdoor won a silver for their “Biggest Mother’s Day Card Ever” promo and was nominated as a finalist for a cross-street campaign for Dunkelberger’s. (I’m going to make a small selfish promotional note here and mention that the Mother’s Day campaign is mine, so I can now add Obie Winner to my résumé right below The Hangline Editor and Adams Outdoor Art Director. And props to my counterpart Earl Kessler for the Dunkelberger’s nomination.)
Firehouse was a finalist in the competition for their wrapped breakfast burrito board.
One of my personal favorites was this single execution by Frank Unlimited for Redhook. Talk about location-specific. Sheez. Wonderful idea. Should have won an OBIE but only ended up a finalist.
