If you’ve read some of my other posts, you know that I’m a fan of Chilean wine. These wines are typically fairly inexpensive, too, so I buy them fairly regularly.
This wine is a Sauvignon Blanc from the Central Valley of Chile. It was produced by Anakena.
There’s gooseberry and floral notes on the nose. I’m tasting peach and gooseberry on the palate. There’s a slight hint of butter or cream towards the finish. I’m not sure where that’s coming from, since the wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation or oak aging. Bright acidity balances the fruit. This holds up well to food, but could also be sipped by itself.
What really impresses me about this wine is the low cost. I paid $6.99 for this wine. I’m amazed that a wine of this quality is available for so little.
This gets my “Very Good” rating.
