You may remember that in June I took part in a photo challenge called #1day12pics, you can see my day at Anglesey Abbey here. Well, this month I joined in again and I knew that I was going to be working at home for most of the day, so I thought I’d share with you what our home office really looks like. There are so many gorgeous photos out there of stunning, beautifully styled offices, but really…. does anyone actually work like that?! We certainly don’t anyway! I am chief ‘bits of paper’ girl- my desk is awash with paper, notes, lists and post-its and I like to have particularly important ‘bits of paper’ Washi taped to the wall so I can easily keep an eye on things that are outstanding.
1/ Amelia’s desk, which happens to be in the bedroom!
2/ My desk- untouched, unstyled and in it’s full messy glory!
3/ As much as no one wants to see practical things in pretty photos, I often wonder where people keep all of their stuff and bits of paper. We have begun covering our lever arch folders in fabric, but as you can see haven’t quite got round to them all yet!
4/ Our mood and inspiration boards- a rare, pretty sight in my functional and messy office!
5/ I took a bit of time out in the afternoon to catch up on some mags with a ginger tea.
6/ I am incredibly lucky to have a mother who is obsessed with gardening, which means a plentiful supply of fresh flowers to adorn my desk. If there’s room between the folders, in-trays and bits of paper of course!
7/ On to our home studio, which is an utterly gorgeous room, but undeniably the messiest room in the house. This is a snapshot of the usual day to day messiness- fabric, threads, pins, buttons, trims…. my mother has assured me there is a system!
8/ Another vignette from our home studio. The picture is myself and two of my brothers when we were younger!
9/ A beautiful butterfly that I spotted in the garden- can you spot the bee hiding beneath?!
10/ Work finished for the day and time for a drink!
11/ Back home, ready to relax in our sitting room.
12/ By the end of the day, I was a little tired and a little confused (definitely not the wine) and actually forgot I’d taken another pic and ended up taking a different one for my 12th pic. I wasn’t very happy with it at the time and in my haste deleted it soon after posting it on Twitter, forgetting I needed to blog it. So, instead of trying to get back a photo I didn’t like much anyway, I thought I’d add in the one I was supposed to share of Amelia and I. I really love this picture, we were just messing around, but it captures the moment perfectly.
