14 Wellness Hotels in Germany to Check into for Ultimate Relaxation

By Monkeys And Mountains Adventure @Laurel_Robbins

One of my favourite ways to beat stress besides hiking in the Alps is to check into a wellness hotel for a weekend with my husband.

Nothing says self-love or quality time together quite like an entire weekend of pampering.

14 Wellness Hotels in Germany to Check into for Ultimate Relaxation

7 Tips for making the most of your Wellness Weekend

Choose the right wellness hotel for you. If you want an area that offers a sauna where nudity isn't required (as it is in many German saunas) choose one that has a clothing optional section. Also, check out my My Shy Girl's Guide to the German Sauna before checking into your hotel.

Decide how far you want to travel.

I tend to choose wellness hotels within a 2-hour drive from Munich. The whole point of the weekend is to relax - not be stuck in traffic.
Determine your budget beforehand. If you're anything like me, you could happily get treatment after treatment. However, it's not exactly budget-friendly. Instead, look over the spa menu in advance and choose one or two treatments that you'll enjoy the most. I do this on every wellness getaway and thoroughly enjoy the treatment that I do receive.

Book spa appointments in advance.

Wellness weekends are popular in Germany so if you want a particular treatment, book it in advance to avoid disappointment. I've lost out on massages several times by trying to make an appointment when I was there for the following day and they were booked out.

Choose a wellness hotel that's aligned with what wellness means to you.

While all wellness hotels have their similarities each offers something different. Is it important for you to have a rooftop view over a city? Mountain or lake views? A large comfortable area for lounging and reading? A city to explore or an idyllic place in the country? Figure out what you need the most, then search for hotels accordingly.

Bring a book that's a treat for you to read.

I love reading but all too often I read business books - books that I feel I should read. Don't get me wrong they're helpful, but there's something to be said for reading strictly for pleasure and a wellness weekend is the ideal time to treat yourself to a book you've been wanting to read forever but never have the time to do so. Check out these books for wildlife lovers that I recommend.

Really disconnect.

You deserve a break. Don't bring work with you and try to really disconnect by putting your phone on Airplane mode. By doing this every so often, you'll be able to get more done when you're back at work. None of us can be on all the time.

Pay attention to what you've enjoyed about the wellness hotel and try to replicate it at home.

Once you're at the hotel pay attention to the little things. What makes you feel relaxed? Is it the lavender scent? Soft music? Candlelight? Cozy chair? See which ideas you can implement in your own home to inspire wellness there - not just when you're away.

Now, that you know how to make the most of your time, let's check out some great
