Do your children spend too much time using technology such as their cell phone, tablets, video games, watching television, or using the computer? I remember when I was growing up, I spent a ton of time playing outside with my friends and I wasn’t consumed with technology unlike today’s generation. As a blogger, I am constantly using social media, my laptop, and my cell phone to help promote my blog. It is nice being connected to my readers and wonderful community but I know that I am not setting the best example for my children especially when they see me constantly using my laptop or cell phone.
I need to take a break and unplug every so often and do things with my children. They need me to spend time with them and to create long lasting memories. One of my wishes, is to take them to Colorado to see the mountains. My parents took us camping in Colorado at least one week out of the year in the lovely Frying Pan River Valley, it was always a blast because we got to make memories together. I remember going fishing, horse back riding, playing in the river (even if it was cold), going hiking, and driving around site seeing and looking for wild life. Those were the days before technology was popular and if you were to go to the area now you would be forced to unplug from your phone/technology. Especially, if we spend any time between the mountains were cell phone signal is spotty.

If you don’t have plans to head to the mountains, you can still consider unplugging for a day or for longer periods of time so that you can spend time with your family and friends. Have you heard of National Unplug Night? If you haven’t heard of National Unplug Night, you simply unplug for one evening and spend the evening in your living room playing board games or some other activity together as a family. National Unplug Night is October 16th, 2014 and is sponsored by Carrom Games. I would like to extend my gratitude to Carrom for sponsoring this post.
