The Pakistani disaster flood resulted in the death of nearly 1,300 people in the country even when the aid operation continued.
Victims since June have reached 1,290 with 29 people died in the last 24 hours, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Saturday, reported Geo News.
Meanwhile, Pakistani government agencies and private NGOs continue with their assistance operations described as “Humanitarian Disasters with Epic Proportions”.
Most countries remain submerged – especially the provinces of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh in the south. At least 180 people have died in Sindh followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (138) and Balochistan (125), reported Geo News.
At least, 1,468,019 houses have been partly damaged or completely damaged, while 736,459 livestock have been killed due to flooding.
Assistance has flowed from a number of countries, with the first humanitarian aid flight from France Landing on Saturday morning in Islamabad, reporting Geo News.
The initial estimated damage has been placed on USD 10 billion, but a survey is still conducted together with international organizations.
Minister of Poverty alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Mari said that so far 723,919 families have received 25,000 cash assistance (per family) and the number of ₹ 18.25 billion has been disbursed.
“Apart from the challenges, the Benazir revenue support program launched its operations in a short time after the announcement by the Prime Minister (Shehbaz Sharif),” he wrote on Twitter.
Previously today, in a press conference at the National Flood Response and Coordination Center with Military Officials, Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal asked the international community to support Pakistan and convince the country that the government – supported by its officials – would leave “no stone missed” to return Normal situation at the earliest time, reported Geo News.
Because of internal transfer, more than 500,000 people currently live in assistance camps in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Punjab.
Floods that have inundated one third of the country-which affected more than 33 million people-preceded by four heat waves and some raging forest fires, the head of disaster management said at a high-level meeting, highlighting the effects of climate change in South Asian people.
