Some of these stupid errors are due to what they believe was wise to do. They are physically, psychologically, academically and even emotionally affected by these errors.
As a result, most of them end the session on a scale of 4.0 with GP less than 2.0.
After my years of experience at the great Federal Polytechnic of Ede , I was able to analyze the stupid errors of students at ND1 level.
The following errors are not exclusive to ND1 level students. It has a greater impact on them, though.
Furthermore, it also applicable to YABATECH, NEKEDE, LASPOTECH, IREPOLY, POLYIBADAN and other polytechnic students in Nigeria.
MISTAKES MADE BY STUDENTS FROM POLY EDE IN THEIR FIRST YEAR
1. NO PROPER GUIDE:In their first year, many PolyEde students live as if they were the first people to be admitted. Immediately they see their names in the list of admissions, they feel it's all. You don't ask questions about your school, department or study course.
They also fail to realize that what takes them forward in school is what they have in their heads. As a result of what they didn't know in ND1, many Fedepe students face challenges in ND2. To avoid the challenges your senior students face, you have to know what they didn't know. You must be properly guided:
- Date of resumption
- Date of clearance
- Required documents
- Updates on registration of courses
- Fed Poly Ede school fees Payment deadline
- How Ede students should Jark
- How examination questions set
- The university marking scheme
- Tips to avoid missing scripts or missing cases
As a student of Estate Management at HND II levels, I can tell you that distraction is one of PolyEde's main things. The distractions come in various dimensions. That makes it harder to identify.
In Poly Ede, distractions come in the form of:
- Social activities
- Fellowship
- Pretty girls and beautiful boys.
Prioritize your time to carry out the tasks that give your academics the best result. You can't stop distractions coming. You can, however, choose not to be distracted.
3. SOCIAL LIFE:This mistake is not peculiar to Poly Ede students. You want to make friends and associate with everyone you meet as a one- year student. You want to go to all the shows to show you've come. Did you forget that whoever you follow determines what you follow? That's it.
Poly Ede is a federal polytechnic and therefore admits students from various tribes and backgrounds. This is a good reason why you should choose your friends selectively. Many students still deplore their choice of friends. Be cautious!
4. CLASSES SKIPPING:Who class helps ? This is the poly Ede students ' language. Students of Poly Ede Environmental Faculty are mainly guilty of this. The truth is, classes in ND1 may not help you.
If you cultivate this habit in ND1, however, you will find it very difficult to leave. In the second year of study, this will harm you. If classes don't help you, what helps you in school?
5. WAITING FOR THE EXAM TO BE CLOSE:Currently the Poly Ede calendar is moving at sound speed. If you don't prepare with the speed of light, you will receive the examination date as a flash.
Many poly Ede students shake hands with procrastination in their first year, forgetting that their senior colleagues have been crippled.
Poly Ede examinations are usually surprising for those who are not prepared; they are not jokes. Begin to prepare as soon as possible.
6. PAYING MORE ATTENTION TO DRESSING:This is very common with Environmental and Management students. They iron clothes for five hours daily and move round to impress the opposite sex.
You are in school to study and develop yourself, not for a beauty show. Don't carry shinning body with an empty brain. Invest in your personality.
7. HANGING AROUND NFA BUILDING ALL NIGHT:
Many ND1 PolyEde students waste precious time at NFA doing things that do not add value to their life. There are better things to do than to waste time.
Remember, killing time is not murder but suicide.
8. GOING TO NIGHT CLASS IN GROUP:ND1 level PolyEde students are fond of going to night classes in group. They spend more time discussing and less time studying. This impacts their academic performance negatively.
Do not follow the crowd to night class. Make every second of your stay in night class count.
9. KNOW IT ALL ATTITUDE:Many ND1 level PolyEde students feel they know it all. They feel too proud to ask questions. What you do not know is senior to you.
Humble yourself and learn. In fact, if you are too proud, you become too heavy for people to carry along. Keep calm and learn soft work.
10. That's right. NOT TAKE GNS COURSES SERIOUS:
Many students from Poly Ede do not take GNS courses seriously. It's very easy for some, so they can read it for the exam one day.
For others, they passionately hate GNS. The belief that courses in general studies do not add to CGPA has been completely undermined. The fact remains that GNS adds and should be taken very seriously to your GPA.
The rate at which GNS courses fail ND1 PolyEde students has assumed a huge proportion.
In conclusion, you can't graduate from Poly Ede without passed all your courses in general studies. The sooner you understand, the better.
BONUS 11. That's right. I will not personally advise any student from PolyEde ND1 to stay outside the hostel. Some of the advantages of staying in the hostel are:
- Class proximity
- You get first- hand information
- Get you motivated
- Enable environment that allows you to mix with students from other departments and faculties
- Less comfort and distractions
It is difficult for Poly Ede ND1 students to say no. They feel, "What will he say if I refuse to go out with him?" Don't let the fear of what people are saying make you swim in the ocean of indecision.
Know what you want and what you don't want. In addition, know what works best for you. Be your own...
