The photo and video editors allow you to edit your photos and videos to prepare them for Instagram. All three apps occasionally have bugs, but are otherwise quite functional.
KineMaster

KineMaster is a mobile video editor and one of the best. The app has many desirable features including layered video editing, pictures, stickers, special effects, support for text, support for music, and more. The app even exports in 4K at 30 FPS if your device can handle the export process. In general, Instagram stories don't really require too much video editing. Something like piecing together a little sketch or shaving a useless video at the beginning or end is perfect.
LightX Photo Editor

Mojo is one of several decent Instagram story apps. It has a wide variety of animation templates. You just plug in your own stuff and the app creates a short video montage of the stuff inside. The app contains over 50 templates and more than 50 text styles. You can also edit templates to make further adjustments. The price is pretty extravagant so we only recommend it if you really like the app. We also hope that the porting of all iOS features will be completed sooner rather than later.

You can do some really good things with it, and the feature list is impressive given the very free price.

The app includes over 200 story templates as well as some filters, a collage maker, text support, and even some minor photo editing features like background blur. The app is otherwise pretty self-explanatory. You add different things, use the templates and filters to get whatever effect you want, then post it on Instagram. There are a number of free templates in the app, but you can purchase more material through in-app purchases (usually $ 1.99 for each package).
Storyteller

Gonga Dev's Story Maker is a decent free Instagram story editor. The app has more than 300 templates spread across multiple categories for easy browsing. Additionally, there are 100+ text fonts, support for photos and videos, and support for other apps like Snapchat, WhatsApp, and others. It works just like most of the other options in this area, so it's pretty easy for most people. This one is completely free with ads and people don't seem to mind the ads much.
