The world's best sportscar racing returns to the UK next month with the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Silverstone race taking place at the Northamptonshire track on the weekend of 17 - 19 th August. Not one but two Formula 1 World Champions will be in action.
Fernando Alonso returns to the championship as Le Mans 24 Hours race winner and Jenson Button lines up on the grid for his first home race since 2016. These two F1 stars headline an impressive grid of 100 drivers, including 19 Brits, who will be piloting 36 cars representing a number of top manufacturers.
It will be the home race for many teams. CEFC TRSM Racing is based out of Manor's base right on the doorstep, at Silverstone. Ford Chip Ganassi Racing is located close by in Greatworth and the Banbury based Prodrive-run Aston Martin is headquartered just a few more miles away, while Gulf Racing are south of the circuit in Milton Keynes.
