Zero Context: Game of Thrones - Episode 3

It's time for episode 3 of Zero Context: Game of Thrones, a podcast where a Game of Thrones expert and a newbie come together to watch the final season of Game of Thrones and talk about their thoughts, feelings and concerns as the season progresses.

Zero Context: Game of Thrones – Episode 3

In this episode, we discuss episode 3 of the final season of Game of Thrones, and how we feel about the battle strategies, the not-so-shocking events that take place in the crypts, and how grossed out I am by Denethor eating in Lord of the Rings. I rant about Jon's poor decision making when he's trying to get to Bran, and Jake rants about the poor use of dragon fire on the battlefield. We also take a moment to address complaints about visibility in the episode, and how the claim that the audience just needs to fix the settings on their televisions doesn't really address the scope of the problem.

Additionally, in spoiler corner, I found that I was helpfully prepared by my internet friends for a dark episode, and was able to watch the episode in optimal conditions. I also discuss my pros and cons for this episode, and my main con is that Game of Thrones is a zombie movie now? That said, I kind of liked it, it was just a little shocking, and I was a huge fan of Arya freaking Stark! Jake serves up double the hot take this week, theorising that the battle of Winterfell serves to even the odds between Daenerys and Cersei's forces, and he also suggests that perhaps Gendry forging some dragon armour is in order.

Next week, we will of course be discussing episode 4 of the final season, and we'll be talking weird episode pacing, the splitting of the army, and the impending decent into madness.

If listening through the House of Geekery blog isn't your jam, we're on iTunes and Soundcloud. But if you have a preferred podcast listening service that you'd like us to use, jump into the comments and let us know and we'll see what we can do.

If you want to chat to myself and Jake, you can do so on Twitter at Zero Context Podcast ( @zero_context ) or jump into the comments section here and let us know what you think. Again, we discuss my cat this episode, who you can follow on Instagram @lilnaughtycat if that's something you feel you could benefit from.

But for now, Valar Morghulis!
