Young and Reckless- A Breakdown of Student Health in the UK

Posted on the 18 October 2012 by 72point @72hub

A third of students haven’t been to the dentist since starting university, research has found. A Bupa infographic , featuring statistics from a study of UK university students, revealed that healthy living is still not a priority, with only a measly 18% reaching 5 fruit and veg a day.

In fact, over a third of students manage just two or fewer fruit and veg a day.

The study also looked in depth at the mental health issues suffered by some students in what is, for some, their first big step into independence- a fifth have experienced depression within the last year and 40% would appreciate the opportunity to talk to someone about issues they are facing in their life.

The findings, displayed in an infographic by healthcare specialists Bupa, revealed the apparently sorry state of student health in line with their student health expenses plan, designed to help students tackle the cost of healthcare.

An #infographic by #BUPA breaking down the state of #studenthealth- 1/3 haven't visited the dentist since they started university, and only 20% get 5 or more fruit and veg day to day.
