Another fine addition to Super Fan 99’s ever-growing roster, Winter are a Los Angeles-via-Boston-based band with a fine line in powerful pop melodies. With an album titled ‘Supreme Blue Dream’ coming very soon, the band have unveiled ‘Someone Like You’ to offer a tempting taste of what is to come.
Having played with the likes of Thee Oh Sees and Bleached in California and also made a lasting impression at SXSW, there is no messing about with this song – an eminently danceable melody kick in straight away as throbbing bass also hits all the right notes. Singer Samira recently guest-vocalled for the Go! Team and her subtle, soothing vocals perfectly lilt over the sound akin to Broken Social Scene becoming bedfellows with Beach House.
We may be in the midst of summer but on this showing, Winter will be worth waiting for.
