Will Season 7 Be True Blood’s Last?

While it certainly may be the last, if the writers and HBO decide to make it so, we’d like to remind all that True Blood was still at the top of the cable ratings for the entire run of season 6, so it is very likely that if the writers think it can still get such good ratings it is very likely to continue.  However, for me the biggest problem may be the aging of its vampire stars, that seems to be a bigger problem for its future longevity.  But also, having signed on Amelia Rose Blaire, as Willa, as a regular and several other new vampires who we think will continue, like Luke Grimes as James and Karolina Wydra as Violet, we wonder why they would do that if the show was planning it’s end.

Here’s what has been reported by TVLine.

Is HBO about to stop the flow of True Blood?

A decision about the future of the vampire drama — specifically whether Season 7 will be the show’s last — will likely be decided in the coming weeks, according to showrunner Brian Buckner.

That conversation is happening, but we don’t have an answer yet,” the EP tells TVLine. “I’m being told that I will know – which doesn’t mean that I will tell everybody. But I will know when the writers resume in the room [next month] whether or not we’re wrapping it up or not.”

At the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour last month, HBO president Michael Lombardo said True Blood will continue as “long as there are stories to tell,” adding that, “no decisions have been made.

So, we may know something sometime this fall as the writer’s will begin writing Season 7 on September 5. And, while I think the show could very well continue, if Season 7 does turn out to be it’s last, The Vault will be here providing all the coverage you’ll need to enjoy ever minute.
