Wild Muscari Farmhouse Ale – Field House Brewing (Steamworks Brewing)

By Mike @mikescraftbeer

From Field House Brewing in Abbotsford in collaboration with Steamworks Brewing in Burnaby comes their "Wild Muscari Farmhouse Ale". This is the first of 4 coolship collaborations that Field House will be doing. The wild Yeast was harvested from a Muscari Flower on Mt Seymour in North Vancouver. The beer pours a light golden colour with a white head. The aroma consists of leafy, floral hops, tropical fruit and citrus. The flavour was of tropical fruits, lemon, citrus rind, herbal, mild resin, some grain, maybe a hint of funk and some mild bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 6% with an IBU of 20. This was an interesting brew I just wish it had some more wild yeast notes. You have to love the spirit of collaborating in a coolship though!

Commercial Description: Edition 01/04 is a light, fruity, farmhouse ale, fermented with wild yeast harvested off the Muscari Flower atop Mt. Seymour, and hopped in our Copper Coolship with Cashmere, Mosaic & Motueka Hops.
