Wikimedia to Create a New Travel Guide Service

Wikipedia is about to create a tour guide to possibly rival Lonely Planet. According to Skift, the Wikimedia Foundation is discussing the possibility of developing a free tourist guide service that could be freely edited by the public, and will decide on this proposal six weeks after consultating with the public, although some say this proposal is already approved. The service is not yet named. Wikivoyage is also said to be joined with Wikimedia, donating their URL, the board of directors, admin, and more than 36,000 articles in German and Italian.  source
