Why They Think It’s Worth It To Buy Manga: Publishers and Fans Side

Why Do You Think It's Worth It To Buy Manga?

Let’s just say I decided to expand upon that post I wrote about a month ago on Manga Bookshelf and took my adventure to New York Comic Con. For better or worse. Give a listen to publishers and fans on why they think it’s worth it to buy manga, and you can share, in however way you want, why you think it’s worth it to buy manga.

The manga publishers I spoke to, in no real order:

Ed Chavez (Marketing at Vertical), Andy Nakatani (Editor-in-Chief of US Weekly Shonen Jump), Leyla Aker (VP Publishing at Viz), Amy Mar (Animation Marketing Associate at Viz), Stephanie Lee (Editorial Assistant at Yen Press), JuYoon Lee (Editor in Chief at Yen Press), Tiffany Chen (Senior Manager at Crunchyroll), Danika Harrod (Manga Brand Manager at Crunchyroll), Robert McGuire (Editor in Chief at Gen Manga), Liz Ellis (PR & Events Associate at Viz), Abigail Blackman (Production Editor at Yen Press).

I end up taking to a couple of fans during the weekend on why they think manga is worth buying. You may hear a surprise or two. (NOTE: I unfortunately seemed to have lost the audio for two people that I spoke to over the weekend. Or I just can’t find it. Whatever the case, my apologies for that.)
