Why Did ABC Cancel Last Resort?

Last Resort premiered few weeks ago, opening with a big bang. It looked to be a cool new series. As I said it was one of the best new drama shows of this fall. But now, just at the 7th episode, show runner ABC has decided to cancel the show? WTF?

9.31 viewers enjoyed the pilot episode of the Last Resort. But yet it wasn't good enough for ABC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Last Resort will see its end on ABC after running all 13 episodes of the first season. ABC has also decided to get rid of another new show, 666 Park Avenue.
This is madness. I know Last Resort has a odd kind of a story for a soap opera. But I liked that different approach. This change was good. And I have no idea what's wrong with ABC. This is madness.
