When The Forecast Is Gloriously Wrong

Ice the Dog in Penela da Beira, Portugal

We are back from our Castanhas Weekend, and happy to report that the forecasters were totally wrong last week. We didn’t get rained on, we finished harvesting the chestnuts on Saturday afternoon, and we spent today enjoying the sunshine — albeit creakily. Ice was his usual energetic self, bouncing in the autumn leaves like a deer. Us, not so much! Maybe later this week.

I took these photos today in the home village of Penela da Beira, where Ice ran free most of the time and played with the village dogs. He’s much bigger than last year, so he’s less afraid of them.

More photos of the village after we recharge our batteries.
