A few weeks ago during our little trip to the Northwest, we took family photos with Mike Fiechtner in Seattle. Lest you think, how perfect (!), please let me tell you how these photos really went down. Friday morning we drove from Portland to Kirkland, a relatively long car ride with a one year-old in the backseat. As soon as we got there, I dashed off to meet a friend for coffee while Brett hung out with his friend Dave. There was a bit of a miscommunication regarding what time we needed to leave, and when I got back to Dave’s house to find Brett not ready, well, let’s just say….there was a not-so-tiny argument. Then we left and got crazy lost because my handy dandy phone GPS kept telling us to turn down roads that were closed for construction. Seven detours and three arguments later, we finally arrived at our photo destination, late and exhausted and irritable. Oh! And Everett was sick, covered in snot, and coughing up a lung. It was freezing cold, super windy, and I—the ever so stubborn California Girl—didn’t bring a sweater out of sheer protest. Big mistake.

Basically, the whole evening was a borderline disaster, which is why you can imagine my surprise when I got back THESE pictures from Mike. Arguments? Wind? Detours? Snot? You would never know by looking at these photos (well, maybe a little bit of a snot in a few). What a pro. If you’re in the Seattle area, I can’t recommend Mike Fiechtner enough. He was wonderful to work with, and GREAT with Everett (major plus!). I can’t wait to frame a few of these in our new place on a gallery wall. Thanks, Mike!

p.s. My pretty necklace was a birthday gift from Anthropologie and can be found here.
