What If We Declared a No Marketing Day?

By Waxgirl333 @waxgirl333

Sometimes I wonder about all the marketing for brands on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I understand that we are not all Christians but I don’t think they’re trying to reach mostly Jewish or Muslim folks.

Wouldn’t it be nice if for just one day we decided to have a “no marketing” rule? A day where moms didn’t have to worry about the barrage of commercials for toys, games and sugary food? A day where you could watch The Christmas Story over and over without commercials? A day where Best Buy could only say Happy Holidays without the “check out our smart phone sale” right after that?

This may sound strange coming from a marketer but after the avalanche of messaging we send during the holiday season imagine what it would be like to have a day where nobody tries to sell you something. Going off the marketing grid might be just be what we need.

Just a random thought this Christmas night. Happy Holidays everyone!
