A romantic comedy for… people who like Daniel Radcliffe? I’ve heard that this film is soooooo good, but after watching it, I don’t know why. Daniel Radcliffe’s character is kind of an asshole. It’s odd that Kazan’s character even befriends him. She does seem like she would be a nice girlfriend for Radcliffe, but he doesn’t really seem like the right boyfriend for anyone. He’s sarcastic, bitter, and essentially working his way into a happy relationship to eventually, one day, break them up.

I suppose, in some weird way, it works as an anti-romantic comedy. But it doesn’t really play that way. It tries to be a straight up romcom, even trying hard to bring them together… but at what cost? I suppose the good thing about Radcliffe’s Wallace is that he doesn’t force Kazan’s Chantry to choose between work and love. But that’s really because Wallace does nothing with his life. We definitely don’t need to be making romcoms about girls who have awesome job prospects falling in love with unemployed, directionless men.

This is not 500 Days Of Summer. This is not the rom com you’ve been looking for.

FINAL GRADE: C+
