It is with great pleasure that I introduce Alberta Kelly to all of you. Alberta is the newest writer to join the team here at Sound Check bringing our grand total to 3! Alberta will be taking on Western Canada for Sound Check so watch for coverage of events like the Big Valley Jamboree and of course the Calgary Stampede this summer.
First Break Entertainment
Alberta has been involved in music ever since the young age of 16 starting with building fan sites. Alberta has a strong passion for music and has always felt that up and coming artists should be heard and seen and it’s through owning her bar, “Rock’n Country”, in 2009 where she got her first taste of artist bookings and promotions. In April 2014 she took her passion for music one step further and registered her booking and management company “First Break Entertainment“. Although she got her start on Canada’s east coast Alberta now calls Fort McMurray, Alberta home.
We’ve been looking for a writer to cover western Canada for some time and Alberta fits the bill perfectly, her passion for music and rising stars matches our mandate at Sound Check perfectly. The fact that she owns an artist management company and has her own industry connections will allow Sound Check to bring you even more and introduce and promote even more artists.
Alberta is already working on her first post which will be a feature of Mike LeBlanc, be sure to watch for this article in the near future!
Sound Check first expanded into the GTA last spring by adding Corey Kelly (no relation to Alberta) to the team. Corey has proven to be an invaluable addition to the team and has played a huge role in solidifying Sound Check’s relationships with some of Canada’s biggest labels and artists. Adding a writer to western Canada is a no-brainer as some of the largest events in Canada are held there and many of Canada’s most successful artists got their start there so having a permanent presence there will be a huge asset to Sound Check.
