Bristol punks Weatherstate have shared the video for new single ‘Brain Dead’ ahead of the release of debut album ‘Born a Cynic’ on 10 May via Failure by Design Records in the UK and EU and Wiretap Records in the US.
Vocalist and guitarist Harry Hoskins claims ‘Brain Dead’ is ‘a song about disconnecting your feeling from yourself and your surroundings but enjoying every minute of it’ although some of the lyrics err towards a darker side: ‘I’ve tried so many times to make a living but we’re all just born to die’; ‘Maybe I don’t care who I wanna be, you know it never really mattered to me. Rip out your soul, cause all your ignorance takes so much toll’.
Despite this, the power-pop banger offers an electrifying combination of Boston Manor riffs and Culture Abuse can-do attitude – with a sprinkling of a Blink-style sing-along chorus thrown in for good measure.
