Here are 12 things to do and see while traveling in Spain:

1. Barcelona
The capital of Catalonia (and second largest city of Spain) has monuments with unique architecture thanks to the creativity of Gaudí: Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, Park Güell, to name a few. Add to that the beach and excellent tapas bars, you get one of the places not to be missed in Spain.

2. The El Torcal Nature Reserve of Antequera
Located in the province of Málaga, you can see amazing rock formations that are the result of thousands of years of erosion. The place is pretty wild but easy to get to. With a little luck you will be able to see some ibexes.

3. Santiago de Compostela
Santiago de Compostela marks the end of the famous pilgrimage route. The city is a World Heritage Site for its medieval historic center and its beautifully-built old streets around the cathedral.

4. Zaragoza

A beautiful city located halfway between Barcelona and Madrid, on the banks of the Río Ebro, there are many historical sites, excellent restaurants and fewer tourists than in the two cities mentioned above. Not to be missed: the fortified palace of Aljaferia, the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Pilar, and the ancient Roman fortifications.

5. Toledo
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Toledo is located about 60 km south of Madrid and is known for its architectural heritage influenced by different civilizations. Home of some of the best and most incredible vacation homes in Spain.

6. The Roman ruins of Merida
It is the most important Roman archaeological site in the country. Very well preserved, especially the remains of the 2000-year-old amphitheater and theater that give the impression of traveling back in time. A pass at 12 euros allows to visit all the sites of the city.

7. The coastline of the Rías Baixas
