Veggie World Restuarant Review

By Tejal Hewitt @Tejal_x

So a lovely friend of mine recommended this small little place in Bletchley that is not only vegetarian but has soya based meals. It’s completely meat, fish and egg free place where all the food is made from soya or gluten based food with lots of veggies.

It’s very similar to place in America I used to go to called Veggie Wokery in Los Angeles (Off Pioneer Blvd). Where you get things like Kung Po Chicken, Sesame Prawn of toast etc but it’s completely all vegetarian and vegan.

Veggie World was a small mom and pop ran place, where you need to go with cash. It wasnt the cheapest meal we had as the total bill was £58 for the four of us, and some of our choices we not successful however even my carnivore hubster enjoyed a vegan/vegetarian meal.

Some of the foods have meat names – but be assured there was no meat in them!

We started off with some Prawn Crackers which were actually really good – I’ve never had real prawn crackers but I see why they are so yummy. My hubster said they weren’t as fluffy as real prawn crackers. These were a hit with all four of us!

Then came the Veggie Sesame Prawn on toast, which I wasnt a big fan of, my hubster thought they were pretty good. Kids were not very impressed.

My Son picked out some Veggie Peking Ribs, which myself, hubster and son enjoyed, however my daughter wasnt as keen on these. The sauce wasnt very tasty but the ribs had a fair bit of flavor.

We then had some Crispy aromatic Duck with pancake wraps. This was enjoyed by all of us, the plum sauce was yummy and the duck was a little too crispy, but was very good.

The pancake wrappers were warm and fresh.

Veggie chicken balls also went down a treat – however it was a little strange in texture as felt very meaty! But they were very good.

My Son wanted to order some butterfly Prawns, however none of us particularly liked them. Next time with will definitely not be ordered.

These crispy wontons were a little empty, did not have much filling if any at all. However the kids did like these.

We actually ordered 2 soups a Tom Yum Soup ( I forgot to take a picture of this one) and the Sweetcorn soup. They both were good and my daughter liked them both. However i prefered the TOm yum soup as it was more flavor some with a spicy kick.

Hubster wanted to order some crispy chilli beef, with was very crispy – It had great spicy flavor but was hard to eat, as it was very crispy.

Now this one was my absolute favourite! Sea Spices Aubergine, it was lovely and to my surprise it also had chunks of soya meat. Aubergines were cooked perfectly.

Szechuan spicy Veggie Nui ( Beef) which was nice with heaps of flavour, and we had it made a little spicy. I’d never had tomatoes in a chinese dish – but they went down well.

Normal plain rice – for my daughter

Plain noodles for my son.

I must say the service was great, food came out very quickly and hot. However our table was not big enough…we were struggling for space!

I would give a 5/10 – as the food was good, but felt a little greasy and was a little expensive, but it was a lovely meal that was enjoyed all around! Our bill was £58 with only 3 drinks and no dessert.

Next day review: The day after I had a very dodgy stomach, lots of cramping and pain. I honestly can’t say if it was the food, now I’m in 2 minds if I would go back. I have a sensitive tummy to carrots and yeast – and not sure if something in the food had triggered some intolerance.

Tip – Take cash as they do not have a card machine.
