Vegan Travel Tips!

Remember the Alamo!

This was a busier week than usual ~ meetings, lunches, dinners and a cocktail party, two days of which were spent in San Antonio Texas y'all, and two of which were in fabulous Palm Beach...I promise a post on places to go will follow!
On the way to the airport Wednesday night, my fabulous hostess and I got so lazy talking in the Florida sunshine, that we lost all track of time.  Fortunately I had checked in online for my Jet Blue flight, but dinner was forgotten.  Thanks to some unanticipated traffic and long lines at security, grabbing something to eat was impossible beyond a bag of Salsa Fresca Rice Crackers (though they were a tangy, vegan, and gluten-free snack!)

Jet Blue shapes up!

I knew I wouldn't be home until 9:30pm and it was already 6pm so those chips, which only followed a bit of fruit for breakfast and a small protein-less salad at lunch, were not going to do it, but Jet Blue came through.  Enter the Shape Up snack box!
For $5.99 I got:100 calorie pack of raw almonds60 calorie gluten-free multigrain crackers A small container (maybe 2 TBSP) of hummus Olove Mediterranean pitted olives A Halloween-treat sized pack of raisins (that was plenty for me) A mint and tiny gluten-free non-dairy gingerbread cookie (though I wasn't sure either was vegan so I didn't risk it)
I have to tell you, it did the trick (even without the cookie, mint and most of the olives.)
What's the moral of the story?: If you have occasion to fly Jet Blue, sit back, snack, relax...and watch Food Network while you do!
