#TravelTuesday - Spa Oceana

By Tanvi Rastogi @tanviidotcom

Husband's and my idea of relaxation is being bums and doing nothing. Absolutely nothing. One of the most relaxing activity which involves doing nothing is - getting a massage. At our recent stay at the Loews Don CeSar Hotel, we were pampered with a blissful couple's massage in a room facing the stunning view of the gulf at the Spa Oceana.

At the reception we were greeted with a a smile. After changing into our soft and plush bathrobes we had a refreshing glass of cucumber water. Soon after we made our way to the second level where all the massage rooms there. Our masseuses greeted us, inquired about our trouble areas and then led us to the massage room. We were given the opportunity to pick a fragrance for the oil. It was quite a task, since I liked so many of them.

My husband chose the Swedish massage while I picked the bamboo massage. This was my first time trying this massage. In case you haven't heard of it before today either - Hollow bamboo canes replace the therapist's hands, and it is used to give a deep, firm massage. The cane is held by the therapist and rolled over the muscle with the same strokes they would use with their hands. The muscle is then kneaded, which assists in the release of tension and easing of knots. Massage practitioners often use the whole arm from elbow to wrist, and the use of the bamboo cane replaces this technique. via

Our 90mins of massage time flew by, which is always a sign of a good massage. We both felt so relaxed like all the stress and tension had melted away from our body. The view from the massage tables, was a bonus.

After the massage we first stopped for some blueberry yogurt pretzels (which were delish!) and then headed to the rooftop cabana, where we were welcomed with glasses of complimentary pink champagne. Had it not been exceptionally humid we would have ordered lunch there and relaxed a little more. However, we did hang around a while to enjoy the great view of the Gulf of Mexico from the rooftop.

If you live in Tampa, FL or are visiting St. Pete Beach you MUST make a reservation at the Spa Oceana at The Loews DonCeSar Hotel. Trust me, you wouldn't be disappointed!

All opinions mentioned are my own.
