Travel Apps for Couples – Keep Friends and Family in the Know

Posted on the 20 June 2014 by Elizabethlmaness @elizbethlmaness

You enjoy the trip as a cozy couple but when you share your thoughts, photos and videos online – each of you shares those with your social media friends separately. It’s not that you intentionally break up your posts into “his” and “hers” piles, it’s just the way that Facebook, Twitter and Google+ are structured.

Soon with GeoJotter you will be able to create a Facebook “Adventure” before heading out on your next trip and add everyone who is going along to that Adventure. Then using GeoJotter, everyone will have synchronized Adventure Pages on Facebook that update everybody’s “Jots” on each page. Now your friends get to follow the whole trip, with more awesome comments, photos and videos that tell the whole story.

And a story is what you get! GeoJotter is designed to take everyone’s individual Jot’s and lay them out in a rich, interactive format that becomes an engaging storyline. The secret is that the Adventure Page isn’t designed like any other microblogging interface you’ve seen. Your viewers have several simple, intuitive ways to explore your Jots including an interactive map that builds a path of selectable marker icons that trace your travels.

Introducing GeoJotter from Xpletive on Vimeo.

You can try it for yourself, there is a prototype Adventure Page here: http://geojotter.net/ – it uses a long hiking trip as the sample content but you can easily see how this could be used for anytime you go traveling together. Also, because it’s one of my favorite features be sure to click on the “Journals” tab in the prototype. Not only does it allow us wordy types a place to write long form, it still links anything we want back to a specific Jot. This way I still get to reference a location with photos and video in my journal.

You can get all the details on GeoJotter at their website (http://www.geojotter.com/)
If you see using this in your future, go and support them on Kickstarter!
