Verdict on Torn Hearts

Characters

Harper Dutch was part of a popular country music double act with her sister. After her sister’s death, Harper became a recluse from the world, despite her music standing the test of time. She welcomes the girls into her home, where she wants to see if they have what it takes to make it. Harper has a secret from the world and it doesn’t take it long before she starts to turn the girls against each other.

Jordan is one half of the band; she writes the songs. She learns about Harper’s address, encouraging Leigh to join her in visiting their idol. Leigh has had success before Jordan, she is the lead of the pair, being the better performer of the pair. The pair have been together for a couple of years and want to make it to the next level in the music industry.

Performances

Katey Sagal is wonderful as a reclusive musician, she makes it clear something isn’t right with her character. She gives us a performance where we want to see how far she will go. Abby Quinn and Alexxis Lemire are great as the country music act. They show the different emotions they have been through in their attempts to make it in the industry as well as the conflict they have between themselves.

Story

The story follows a country music double act that are about to have a big break when they get a chance to meet their idol. Their time with their idol sees them tested to see if they can make it together in the industry.

This is a story that delves into the desperate attempts to remain famous and reach stardom. It shows how added pressure can change everything that people thought was safe between friends. The story is presented in a way that shows how meeting your idol can be dangerous, as they might not be everything you are expecting.

Themes

Torn Hearts is a horror movie that sees how unstable a former star can become, despite people still idolising them. Most of the movie is set in the home of the reclusive music star, which is filled with memorabilia. It creates a museum feel, as a false sense of love despite people not talking about them as much as they want. When it comes to pure horror, it holds back from the bigger moments for a bigger showdown.

Final Thoughts Torn Hearts is a fun horror, with the warning of not meeting your idols.
