Top 5 Perth Eats & News – May

By Foodie Cravings @foodiecravings

May’s Top 5 Perth Eats is a combination of warm comfort foods and desserts. With the cooler weather now here I’m loving my comfort foods even more than usual and desserts are always a constant craving.

Top 5 Perth Eats

#1 Osteria Dei Sapori’s Gnocchi Al Ragu’ Di Carne ($18) – the only gnocchi I’ve ever found remotely comparable to my Italian mother-in-law’s was from Must in Margaret River years ago so I was pretty excited to discover Osteria’s which is much closer to home. I loved that the sauce was richer and more intense in flavour compared to my mother-in-law’s which made it slightly different but still amazing in its own way. The gnocchi was soft and just melted on first bite. Plus I was surprised it was only $18…now I’m determined to find more Italian restaurants like Osteria Dei Sapori in Perth, I always thought quality authentic Italian food was a rarity in Perth but looks like you just have to look for it!

#2 The Honeycake – I was sent this amazing Honeycake to taste from Westfield City’s The Market. I loved the light honey flavour and the texture of the layers. Perfect with a morning or afternoon coffee

:)
I can’t wait to get my hands on some more!

You’ll find The Honeycake at Perth markets (check out their website to find out where), at a number of Perth cafes/shops including some my favs Uncle Joe’s Mess Hall and The House of Honey, and you can also order from them direct.

#3 West End Deli’s Gluten Free Raspberry Chocolate Cake - I was having coffee with my dear friend and gluten free blogger Martine of Chomp Chomp at West End Deli last month and we decided to share dessert. I don’t tend to pick the gluten free option when I’m out and about but I was glad the Raspberry Chocolate Cake was the only gluten free dessert available on the menu as it was AMAZING. It tasted like a cherry ripe and I’d happily eat it any day.

#4 Little Sisto’s Corn and Bacon Savory Loaf - I was tempted by the sweets in Little Sisto’s cabinet but this particular morning I had just eaten the honey cake before morning tea so I felt like something savoury. Little Sisto’s warm corn & bacon savoury loaf which I covered in butter was absolutely divine and hit the spot.

#5 Voyagers Estate’s Sparkling Red Grape Juice - I was sent Voyager Estate’s sparkling grape juice to taste and was excited that I was able to drink as many bottles as I wanted whilst pregnant

:)
They are non-alcoholic but made from the same grapes as the wines. The red grape juice is my favourite.
