Top 5 Perth Eats (Dec – Apr) Marathon

By Foodie Cravings @foodiecravings

It’s been awhile since I last featured my Top 5 Perth Eats so to catch up I’ve decided to feature a Top Perth Eat for each of the months I’ve missed!

Top 5 Perth Eats

Despite being the biggest carnivore, all my Top Perth Eats happened to be vegetarian eats!

DECEMBER

December’s Top Perth Eat has to be Michele’s Crepe Suzette’s nutella crepes.

Living closer to the Perth city, visiting Freo is a rare occasion and we always play it safe with our food choices. Cravings for Run Amuk’s The Punk hot dog and Bread in Common’s common loaf are usually what gets us traveling to Freo.

However on that particular day, we were invited to check out Zapfhall as featured in my New Perth Bars & Restaurants round up so after a couple of beers and a German feed, we were lured into the Fremantle Markets by Michele’s Crepe Suzette’s sign.

And what a sweet discovery it was. This is burger boy & I’s nutella crepe…

The crepe was fluffy, generously filled with nutella and topped with plenty of icing sugar. Best of all it wasn’t a tiny portion. The savory crepes on the menu looked great too, I’ll have to make a special trip into Freo to have more soon!

JANUARY

January’s Top Perth Eat is The Cabin Small Bar’s grilled haloumi with strawberry salsa, lime, agave & pepper flakes. OMG it was that good.

The Cabin Small Bar is just around the corner from my place but I keep forgetting about it. I had my first taste in January when we headed there for a girls night out.

I was so impressed with everything we had and surprised it wasn’t busier on that Saturday night.

I loved this grilled haloumi with strawberry salsa, lime, agave & pepper flakes. This combination of savory, sweet and sour really worked. I could have easily had a few plates of these to myself.

FEBRUARY

February’s Top Perth Eat is The Hardware Store’s zucchini & sweet corn fritters.

I love that my friend Mia always introduces me to old gems hidden in the suburbs. With the flood of new Perth restaurants, bars and cafes opening, I find that once the initial hype is over if I haven’t been to a particular new venue I tend to forget about it, that is unless I live locally or hear about it heaps.

I absolutely loved The Hardware Store’s zucchini & sweet corn fritters…

I still crave the corn fritters from Taste & Graze in Mandurah so I’m pretty excited to have found a closer way to satisfy my fritter cravings.

MARCH

March’s Top Perth Eat is Pinchos’ Gazpacho Salad.

I was invited to Pinchos to try out their $15 lunch menu in March. For $15 you get to choose one pincho, one tapa and one salad with a ciabatta. At first I thought there was no way this would fill me up and I was keen to trade up my salad for another tapa.

This is my pintxo chorizo, gazpacho salad & smoked ham and chicken croquettes…

Pinchos

Happy that I didn’t trade off my gazpacho salad as it was the highlight, I’d eat a massive bowl of this salad for lunch any day.

This Spanish salad was filled with tomatoes, capsicum and sweet red onion dressed with a red pepper puree dressing. It was tangy and went really well with the ciabatta.

And you know what for $15 both burger boy and I were satisfied. I was really impressed with the value for money of this offer as later that day I had a milkshake & croissant for $16 from Milk’d!

APRIL

My preliminary Top Perth Eat for April is Gusto Gelato’s Cheesecake Gelato.

It didn’t feel right featuring just four eats for this Top 5 Perth Eats post so it’s early days for April but OMG the cheesecake gelato from Gusto Gelato (check out my interview with the Gusto behind Gusto Gelato here) was impressive. It tasted just like a cheesecake, even the texture was quite dense and cheesecake like.
