Too Hot For Running

By Khourianya @khourianya
I woke up this morning feeling pretty good about my calf.   The lump was MIA, the pain was gone and I found myself getting kind of excited to test drive it.  Especially since this would be my only weekday run this week.
It was also going to be a chance to test drive my new tank.  It is the first piece of Lulu I've bought in a long while but I had to have those colours.

Ok - so I look a bit psychotic in this pic...
it is only to distract from the muffin top.

Tina got to my office around 11:30 and we hit the path.   No calf pain.  Teeny bit of shin pain.  No problem, though...warming up will work out the kinks.
And warm up we did....holy hannah, can somebody please tell the weather it is SEPTEMBER already?  and, yeah, Instaweather...about that autocaption....NOT!

We were dragging some serious sweaty ass out there.   Kinda like running uphill both ways.  But persevere we did.  Up into Canyon Meadows, back along Elbow...5k later we were done.

It was slow and hot and sweaty. Lots of walking.  I'm glad we did the 5k loop, though.  I was very tempted to only do the 4k one, but I know I need the extra mileage.

We drank a serious amount of water, but it was nowhere near enough.

And my new tank?  Well, Lulu has certainly changed their Cool Racerbacks.  This one was a constant fight with my water belt.  Every time I tugged it, I practically set up a peep show for passing cars.   Not impressed.   But I think it was mostly the waterbelt's problem so this may need to be moved to the "with hydration pack only" pile.  Such a shame too - because it is seriously cute.   I may also consider taking it in and having the straps shortened.   I really wish they hadn't let their quality slip so much, though.  The material is so much different than my other CRBs.
After the run, I pulled out my TPT roller and let it do some work on my calf.

I REALLY like this thing.   I don't have the balance issues that I have with my larger foam roller and it really does a great job of working on my calves.  I may actually invest in the larger roller as well since this one has been so worth the whopping $8 I spent on it at the thrift store!
Now, it's time to get preparing for my first weekend of back to back races!   I am so excited for both Run for Water and for the Calgary Corporate Challenge this weekend!!!!
