Today Versus Then

SERENADE 2 SENIORS

spaceship

Today, we have more conveniences but less time.

We have more degrees but less common sense, knowledge and judgment.

There are more experts but more problems, more medicines but less wellness.

We spend too recklessly, get angry too fast, laugh too little and drive too fast.

We stay up too late, read too little and watch t.v. too often.

We have multiplied our possessions but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too little and lie too often.

We have learned how to make a living but not always a good life.

We have added years to life but not life to years.

We have taller buildings, shorter tempers, wider freeways but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, have less, buy more but enjoy less.

We’ve been to the moon and back but have trouble crossing the street to greet a new neighbor.

We‘ve conquered outer space, not inner space.

We’ve split the atom but not our prejudices.

We learn less, plan more but accomplish less.

We’ve learned to rush but not to wait.

We have higher incomes but lower morals.

We build faster computers to hold more information but have less communication.

We are long on quality but short on quantity

We have a large selection of food to choose from which is less nutritious.

Our profits are steep but our relationships shallow.

We have more leisure but less fun.

We have two incomes, more divorce, fancier houses and broke homes.

Life is for enjoyment and not only for survival.
