I love brunch. And I especially love brunch at a restaurant that has an extensive list of craft beers to pair with it. So I was very excited when I heard that Thirsty Lion added a new brunch menu! Thirsty Lion downtown Denver launched its weekend breakfast menu on Saturday, December 5th, and last weekend I stopped in to try it.

Thirsty Lion offers many traditional brunch drinks, such as mimosas, Bloody Marys and Irish coffee; they even have some unique twists on them, like the Sriracha or the Wasabi Bloody Mary. But on this particular occasion I was in the mood for a delicious craft beer. I was also craving a breakfast burrito and wondering what might go best with such a spicy dish. After careful consideration I decided on a Green Flash Imperial IPA. The hops accentuated the spiciness of the burrito (plenty of jalapeños in this one!) which was flavorful, hearty and filling.

For dessert my guest and I shared the Jameson Bing Cherry Bread Pudding. And I couldn’t resist the Salted Caramel Moroccan Coffee: 151 Rum, Kahlua, Irish cream, Buttershots, caramel, coffee and Kosher salt. This drink packs a punch and is the perfect warmer for a chilly day. I highly recommend pairing these two together, both of which are included in the new Winter Seasonal Menu.

Thirsty Lion has a huge menu with lots of variety, 52 beers on tap (many of them local), and a large dining room; each time I have dined here I have been able to get a table immediately, which can definitely be a challenge at many restaurants during weekend brunch. And I can only speak for myself, but when I’m hungry I don’t want to wait an hour or more to be seated! So Thirsty Lion is an excellent choice.

I will definitely be back to try more tasty dishes, like the Irish Whiskey French Toast or Spanish Chilaquiles. Breakfast is available every Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Take a peek at the menu, and I’m sure you’ll find something that catches your eye.
