Remember how I said the strike would be leading to more and more announcements of cancellations? NBC has now confirmed that the shortened third season of Labrea is officially its last, something most people assumed. You don’t just cut an episode count that dramatically and keep it running for years after. Speaking of running for years, this upcoming season of Blue Bloods will be its last as well, but the show will split and finish its 14th season in the fall.
1) Wrestlers (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Limited
This docuseries has proven far more interesting than I initially could have given it credit for. We learn more about a DeathMatch and why someone might subject themselves to it. It’s a weird little show, and it seems to be filling the void left by Heels, which Netflix should consider picking up, as well as another season of this (if possible).
Episode Grade: B+
2) Chucky (Peacock)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Still Going
In what would seem like the Season 2 finale, based on what happens, the show goes wild. I can’t even explain it, but it definitely involves one of the characters exploding. Another one explodes when being hit by a car. I do remember when this facility had other teens staying there, and this episode I was wondering where everyone went, or what they were doing. But, entertaining, and a twisty way of keeping Chucky alive.
Episode Grade: B+
3) Billions (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status:Final Season
As I can no longer tell who the bad guy is, I saw Prince try to get a campaign manager who ended up being oddly fantastic at his job. The big three couldn’t convince Axe to get back in the game, and Chuck makes some moves seemingly impossible, that end with a call from the President.
Episode Grade: A-
4) The Other Black Girl (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Unknown
Some stuff continues to move into a weird territory, as blowback from Colin’s book leads to a job loss at the publishing house, as well as a promotion. And Hazel likely orchestrated the whole thing, just like she orchestrated that kidnapping at the end.
Episode Grade: A-
5) My Adventures With Superman (MAX)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: unknown
I wasn’t a big enough fan to even notice that for weeks, I never even watched the actual season finale. Just one more episode. That has been rectified. Clark may be forsaking his birthright, but at least he, Lois, and Jimmy just got reporter credit.
Episode Grade: C+
6) Mr Robot (Amazon)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Ended
After having his life turned upside down in the premiere, Rami Malek goes on a bit of a trip of what is this life? Is this even real? Another member of the cause goes to great lengths to get a bug planted in a cell phone. Above. And. beyond.
Episode Grade: A-
7) Invasion (Tubi)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
While it doesn’t have audio description, I noticed Tubi remains the home of some really interesting failed shows, including this one and done that was hoping to pull in fans of Lost. This show actually wasn’t that bad, and featured William Fichtner, and a young Tyler Labine. Did the government create a hurricane to hide a secret? What were those lights in the sky? It’d be great for this show to get AD, but the only way a 1 season show that’s over 15 years old is getting that is an AI program. That’s being a realist.
Episode Grade:Unwatchable (It really does need audio description)
8) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
Robbie is being beaten up by a pack of wild dinosaurs, so with the help of his family, he finds a way to befriend them, and eventually becomes the leader of the pack. but, these dinos aren’t changing their tunes anytime soon.
Episode Grade: B-
