The Szatmar – Beregi Region – Part 1

By Ingridd @cosytraveler

From the northwest of Hungary Lars and I drove to the northeast, to a cozy town called Vásárosnamény:

Vásárosnamény is one of the bigger places in the Satzmar – Beregi region, which is virtually untouched by tourism. Take at least one day to drive around in this beautiful part of Hungary. Enjoy the scenery of small, colorful villages with picturesque churches, fields, meadows and forests.

The local tourist information office of Vásárosnamény can provide you with a detailed map and brochures about the region. Most of the information they have is mainly in Hungarian though and their knowledge of English is limited, But to be honest, they were very friendly and helpful.

There is a so-called Plum Route that you can follow. Lars and I did so in the beginning, but we soon started improvising.
