The Struts Release New Acoustic Sessions, Take on Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ [Premiere]

For a band known for their explosive, high-octane rock shows and otherworldly stage presence, The Struts manage to tame their sound to perfection with these new vides featuring “Kiss This” and a combined cover of The Vaccines “I Always Knew” and Drake’s “Hotline Bling” — the latter may not make sense on paper, but the resulting track is an expert blend of the two. Stripped down to its bare acoustic elements, “Kiss This” beautifully showcases lead singer Luke Spiller’s dynamic vocals and the band’s accompanying harmonies. On selecting the covers, Spiller said, “These are two songs I always really enjoyed. I did a piano version of “I Always Knew” a few years ago and then started playing “Hotline Bling” under the same chord structure. The results are really interesting.”
